Charles de Viel Castel
Managing Partner

Charles de Viel Castel is Managing Partner of Stelac Capital Partners LLC and is one of the primary investors in the firm. Prior to Stelac, Mr. de Viel Castel was a Director and head of Sales Management for Private Wealth Management Latin America for Deutsche Bank. He was responsible for reviewing the product line and served as a conduit for delivering investment solutions to clients, promoted new offerings in various asset classes and worked as a link between the product teams and the sales force. He was in charge of a team analyzing clients' or prospects' risk profiles, goals, and backgrounds in order to make investment suggestions, construct customized investment proposals in line with the House View. During his work at Deutsche he covered NY, Geneva, Hamburg and all local offices. Mr. de Viel Castel helped raise over $120MM in Private Equity funds in 2 years for the division.

Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Charles worked as an analyst in the Latin America Corporate Finance Group at Goldman Sachs in the Investment Banking Division where he focused on mergers and acquisitions and financial restructurings.

Mr. de Viel Castel sits on the Board of Combustion Media, Inc., Augeo Affinity Marketing, Inc. and Cynergy Logistics LLC.

He holds a BA with dual concentration in Economics and International Relations from Brown University.

Carlos M. Lopez-Oña
Managing Partner

Carlos Lopez-Oña is a seasoned entrepreneur and private equity professional with over 10 years of experience in start-ups, banking and private equity. Prior to joining Stelac, Mr. Lopez-Oña was an independent private equity and venture capital professional focused on small to medium sized companies ranging in size from $5MM in revenues to $200MM in revenues.

In 2002, Mr. Lopez-Oña co-founded and acted as COO/CFO of UdefineU LLC, a direct marketing business focused on selling self-improvement video based products. Prior to UdefineU, Mr. Lopez-Oña was the COO and Executive Vice President in charge of operations for eDiets.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: DIET), a leading online diet services company with over $50MM in revenues. Prior to joining eDiets, Mr. Lopez-Oña was the founder and CFO/COO of DietSmart, Inc., an online diet services company which was sold to eDiets in October 2001 for approx. $6MM, which grew over time to $20 million based on stock performance.

Prior to DietSmart, Mr. Lopez-Oña worked as an associate at BT Capital Partners as part of the $250MM group responsible for private equity investments in the media, telecommunications, health care and financial industries in Latin America.  Mr. Lopez-Oña participated in various investments in the region, including outdoor advertising in Argentina and Brazil.

Prior to joining BT Capital Partners, Mr. Lopez-Oña worked as an analyst in the Latin America Corporate Finance Group at Chase Manhattan Corporation where he focused on mergers and acquisitions and financial restructurings. 

Mr. Lopez- Oña sits on the Board of Combustion Media, Inc., SpeedShape, Inc., Global Rainmakers, Inc., Cynergy Logistics LLC, and has observer rights in several companies in the portfolio.

He holds an M.B.A. from New York University and a B.S.E. in Entrepreneurial Management and Marketing from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
